The Turtles were formed in Los Angeles in 1963 with six members (initial members) under the name THE CROSSFIRES. After that, they changed their name to THE TURTLES and made their debut again with "Sad Babe" (a cover of Dylan's song). ① appeared with folk rock aimed at The Byrds. It focuses on songs by Bob Dylan and P.F. Sloane, but Howard Keilan's originals shine just as well. #98 on the US album charts. ② is an album that actively features the members' own works, while centering on the hits of the title two songs written by P.F Sloan. They are already breaking away from folk rock, and have a wide variety of songs. However, the B-side of the debut single and the re-recording of "Let Me Be", which was also included in the first album, give the impression that it's just a side dish, and the standard of the songs is by no means high. I couldn't say no, and I couldn't break into the album's hit charts. By the time this album was released, drummer Don Murray had stopped and Joel Larson was playing for a while. ⑤ is actually the 6th album released in 1970 with rare songs such as songs that were shelved during the 2nd [YOU BABY] period.
⑥ is a sequel to the best compilation CD released in 1988, centering on the B-side songs released by Rhino in the United States. In 2002, the 2 CD [anthology] Rhino version was released and that role ended.
In addition, between ④ and ⑤ above, Ray Davies of The Kinks was produced and his 5th [Turtle Soup] was released in October 1969. This is a "paper jacket specification" and the domestic edition <released by Airmail Recordings> was released on CD in 2010.
